A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies is part of the UK's Student visa route. Before that stage, a provider's admissions record should make the offer and its conditions clear to colleagues who handle the next step.

Agree the final course record

The admissions handoff should identify the applicant, course, level, location and intended start date. Mark whether the offer is conditional or unconditional, and record which conditions have been met. This makes it easier to see when a change needs to be reviewed before the CAS stage.

Keep the interview decision traceable

Where an interview is part of selection, retain the questions, reviewer notes and recommendation with the applicant record. Note any follow-up separately from the final admissions outcome. A colleague should be able to see why the decision was made without inferring a conclusion from a score alone.

  • Who approved the admissions decision?
  • What evidence supports it?
  • Are any offer conditions still open?
  • Who will contact the applicant if details change?

Use current sponsor guidance

GOV.UK publishes the Student visa course requirements and the register of licensed sponsors. Those sources should be checked for current rules. A well-organised admissions handoff supports the provider's internal process; it does not replace the separate government criteria.
