01 / CHOOSING WHAT TO STUDY

Find a course and compare the details.

Study Australia's Course Search lets you search by course, education provider, scholarship or career. Its filters include what, where and how to study, and it links to provider websites or direct enquiries.

Australia's study options include universities, vocational education and training, schools and English language courses. The government’s Plan your studies section explains these different pathways.

02 / VERIFYING A PROVIDER

Check the course and provider on CRICOS.

The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students lists Australian education providers offering courses to people studying in Australia on student visas, and the courses they offer. Its course search includes a field for a CRICOS course code.

i

CRICOS provides both provider and course search. You can use a provider name or a CRICOS course code to locate the relevant listing.

03 / PLANNING A BUDGET

Read costs as estimates, then confirm them.

Study Australia says tuition varies by provider, level of study and location. Course materials or equipment can add costs. Its living and education costs guide links to course fees and a Cost of Living Calculator covering accommodation, transport and other choices.

The calculator gives a broad estimate; Study Australia says its figures were last updated in November 2023. Actual living costs can differ, so check current course fees with the provider and current housing costs for the location you are considering.

04 / LIVING IN AUSTRALIA

Explore housing and student support.

Study Australia describes accommodation options including on-campus housing, homestays, private rentals and temporary accommodation. Its guidance says to confirm total housing costs and consider distance and transport to campus.

The government's student support guide lists services offered by education providers, including orientation, academic advice, language support, wellbeing services and help with accommodation.
