A UK provider may interview an applicant as part of admission to a course. UK Visas and Immigration may also ask a Student visa applicant to attend an interview. These are separate processes. Similar questions about a course can appear in both settings, but each organisation has a different decision to make.

Follow the provider's admissions instructions

A course may ask about subject knowledge, previous study, motivation or practical preparation. The institution decides its interview format and admission criteria. Read the course information and ask the provider if you are unsure what a particular admissions step involves.

Check the official Student visa route

GOV.UK states that Student visa applicants need an offer from a licensed student sponsor and a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, or CAS. The published visa route sets out current requirements. An admission interview or offer is not a substitute for those steps.

Keep the details consistent

Use the correct course title, provider and study dates when discussing your plans. If a provider changes your offer, confirm the final details directly with it. For visa questions, use the current GOV.UK guidance and the instructions given in the application process.
